After the success of his JFR 2023, this was French Society of Radiology organized its first Radiology Days Franco-Rio-Platense in Uruguay on November 2nd and 3rd in Colonia del Sacramento in collaboration with its local partners.

Uruguayan and French radiologists regularly visit each other to exchange their practices and collaborate on academic training in both countries. The respective radiology societies in both countries have already signed a cooperation agreement. In this context, the very first Franco-Rio-Platense Radiology Daysfunded by GuerbetOléa Médical, theEmbassy of France in Uruguay and the Uruguayan presidency have strengthened the close ties between French and South American scientists.

This first edition took place on November 2nd and 3rd – co-piloted by the SFRthe Society of Radiology of Uruguay, the Argentine Society of Radiology and the FAARDIT – brought together more than 90 participants. A real result of this collaboration in radiology was the presence of experts from many Latin American countries as far as Colonia del Sacramento in Uruguaya delegation of four French radiologists specializing in neuroradiology, musculoskeletal imaging, pediatrics and women’s imaging. The companies Guérbet and Oléa Médical, members of the French Health Association, also took part in the event as representatives of French industry.

The 19 radiology experts present also conducted a series of educational conferences and scientific workshops in a friendly atmosphere, dealing with various clinical cases. For example, the Vice President of the Argentine Society of Radiology, Dr. Claudia Cejas, a lecture on magnetic resonance neurography. During these meetings other future topics were also discussed, such as: medical treatment of the pancreas, artificial intelligence or endometriosis

This trip was finally an opportunity for the SFR to meet the heads of other radiology companies in Latin America (Bolivia, Paraguay). French official bodies abroad (French Consulate in Buenos Aires, French Embassy in Uruguay) and the Ministry of Health of Uruguay. She presented to them the actions carried out in collaboration with the National Societies of Uruguay and Argentina, as well as the prospects for future cooperation in the coming years.

Discussions about the organization of the Franco-Rioplatense Days in 2024 are already underway: they should take place in Argentina.
