Explore the virtual exhibition to raise awareness about gender equality in the workplace The meaning of the story. Conceived as a journey through time and the history of societies, it questions our vision of parity and sheds light on Inserm’s professional equality policy.
Did you know that in 1962, Stéphanie Shirley had to adopt the pseudonym “Steeve” Shirley in order to enter the business world and start a computer company (which would be worth $3 billion 35 years later)? And do you know the year in which the entrance exam for midwifery schools in France was opened to men? Spoiler: It was only 1982… The exhibition The meaning of the story Using concrete examples from antiquity to the present, it shows how the diversity of roles in society has developed over time. The goal: Raise awareness of the issue of equality between women and men in the workplace.
The tour consists of captions, text and audio testimonials and introduces people and events that have contributed to the promotion of professional equality, as well as the key elements of the Inserm’s plan for professional equality. Published in 2021, this plan aims to create the conditions for equal access to responsibilities and combat discrimination and sexism within the establishment.
